Whilst conducting routine patrols, PCSOs Baker, Alem and Luchian encountered a male whom they believed to be wanted by police. Following enquiries and checks, it was confirmed that the male was wanted on recall to prison after the recall had been issued only the previous day. Officers promptly arrived, arresting the male and conveyed him to custody without incident. This is a great example of proactive patrols leading to positive action and removing individuals wanted by the criminal justice system from our streets.
Later in the day, PCSOs Baker and Alem responded to a 101 call regarding concerns at a residential care home. Due to officers already being on patrol nearby, they arrived within just two minutes of the call being received. Upon arrival, officers dealt with a female who was in possession of drug paraphernalia, consuming alcohol and behaving in a manner that was causing nuisance, annoyance and distress to residents. The female was removed from the premises and, due to her continued involvement in anti-social behaviour, was issued with a Community Protection Warning by PCSO Baker. Officers then spent time with residents and staff providing reassurance and advice, ensuring concerns were addressed and that those affected felt supported.
Alongside responding to incidents, officers continued high-visibility reassurance patrols across Wembley Central throughout the day. Residents and business owners were engaged with directly, discussing local concerns, providing crime prevention advice and offering reassurance. Officers also promoted Met Engage, the Metropolitan Police's new community engagement platform, explaining the benefits of signing up to receive local policing updates, crime prevention information, surveys, community messaging and opportunities to tell us about issues affecting your neighbourhood.
A visible police presence remains one of the most effective ways of deterring crime, tackling anti-social behaviour and building stronger relationships with the communities we serve. We would like to thank everyone who stopped to speak with us today and share their views and concerns.
