Rural Crime Prevention |
||
|
As autumn approaches and the darker nights begin to draw in, we are reminding farmers, landowners and rural businesses to review their security measures.
Rural locations can become attractive targets for thieves seeking machinery, tools, fuel, trailers and livestock.
Please consider the following crime prevention advice:
🔒 Secure sheds, outbuildings and workshops with quality locks. 🚜 Remove keys from machinery and vehicles when not in use. 📱 Install and maintain CCTV, security lighting and alarm systems where possible. 🛢️ Check fuel tanks regularly and consider additional security measures. 🏷️ Mark and record valuable equipment, including serial numbers and photographs. 🚧 Secure gateways and access points to reduce unauthorised vehicle access. 👥 Challenge unknown persons on your land if it is safe to do so and report suspicious behaviour promptly. 📞 Share information with neighbouring farms and rural communities.
The farming community is often our best source of intelligence, and we encourage the reporting of suspicious vehicles and activity, no matter how insignificant it may seem.
If you witness suspicious activity, report it via 101 or online. If a crime is taking place, call 999 immediately.
Together, we can make it harder for criminals to operate in our rural communities. | ||
