|
Here’s a quick update on personal theft and what’s being done locally to address it. It is important to ensure that when you are walking in public that you phone is either safe in your pocket or safe in your bag which is closed. There are people in the public that like to take stuff from people. It is important when you go out to keep an eye out who is around you as someone can just grab your phone from your side. In addition, it is important to have a strong PIN which can be a number form or a pattern for your phone's security. Moreover, if your phone had been stolen is essential to report to the police and give the IMEL number for tracking. The Met is cracking down on street crime by putting hundreds more officers on the frontlines of community crime-fighting teams, upping visible patrols in the right ‘hot spots’ so we can deter and catch criminals. Having personal items or money stolen from you is an upsetting experience. If you have been a victim, it is important that you report these crimes to us as early as possible, to give us the best chance possible to investigate this fully. These reports help us build a picture of hot spot areas where we can spend more time, deterring and arresting thieves. Remember to:
