Crime Prevention Advice – Preventing Theft from Motor Vehicle |
||
|
Dear West Putney Residents,
We would like to make residents aware that theft from motor vehicles remains one of the most common forms of vehicle crime across London.
Many of these offences are opportunistic, with criminals targeting vehicles where valuables have been left on display. Items such as sat navs, sunglasses, bags, mobile phone accessories, and even loose change can attract attention and increase the risk of a break-in. Some offenders also target particular vehicle models that are known to have security vulnerabilities.
There are a few simple steps you can take to help protect your vehicle and belongings: The Metropolitan Police website contains useful advice on preventing vehicle crime, and we encourage you to take a few moments to review the guidance using the link provided.
If you own a van and store tools or equipment inside, you may wish to consider additional security measures, such as a lockable storage cabinet or tool vault. Further information can be found on the Secured by Design website.
By taking a few preventative measures, we can all help make West Putney a safer place and reduce opportunities for vehicle crime.
If you need to report a crime, please call 101. In an emergency, always call 999. You can also report incidents online at: https://www.met.police.uk/ro/report
Kind regards,
West Putney Safer Neighbourhoods Team | ||
