Community Update - Public Order Incident in the Wood Green and Green Lanes Area |
||
|
On Sunday 11 October, officers responded to an unplanned protest in the Wood Green and Green Lanes area involving approximately 100 attendees. The gathering initially remained static before later moving through nearby roads. During the event, an altercation occurred when an individual attempted to take a flag from a participant. Officers intervened to prevent further disorder and, in the course of their duties, one officer sustained an injury requiring medical treatment. Additional reports were received of individuals leaving the area through nearby residential locations and railway land. Extensive enquiries were carried out, including support from specialist police resources. An investigation is ongoing and is being led by detectives. While no arrests have been made at this stage, officers are reviewing available evidence and witness accounts to identify those involved. A Community Impact Assessment has also been commissioned to understand any effects on local residents and businesses. We understand incidents of this nature can cause concern within the community. We remain committed to keeping people safe, maintaining public order, and working with community representatives to minimise disruption and reassure those affected. If you witnessed this incident or have any information that could assist the investigation, please contact police or reply directly to this message. You said, we did: Residents have told us they want visible policing and prompt action when disorder occurs. Officers attended quickly, intervened to prevent further violence, and ongoing enquiries are underway to identify those responsible. Thank you for your continued support and engagement with your local policing team. | ||
