Scam emails

Cyber Protect Warning

The Cyber Protect team is receiving many reports from people who have received fake emails and phone calls claiming to be from the Met.

Scam emails have come from addresses such as:

cybercrime@metropolitan.police.gov

cyberprotect@met.police

Some people have also received calls from fraudsters pretending to be police officers and claiming they are under investigation.

If anyone asks whether a message or call is genuine, advise them to stop contact and check independently using official police contact details.

Please note:

The official Cyber Protect email address is cyberprotect@met.police.uk

The Cyber Protect team will never contact someone to say they are under investigation or discuss an ongoing criminal investigation.

If someone receives a suspicious email or call, advise them to:

Do not click any links or open attachments.

Do not share personal, banking, or account details.

Do not make payments or transfer money.

Stop communicating with the caller or sender.

Verify the contact using official police channels.
