Halloween Trick or Treat Advice for Residents

Dear Resident

As Halloween approaches, many children and families will be enjoying trick or treating in their local communities. However, we understand that not everyone wishes to take part.

🎃 If you do not wish to receive trick or treat callers:

Consider keeping outdoor lights switched off.

Close curtains or blinds during the evening.

Display a polite notice on your door stating “No Trick or Treaters Please” or use our pre made poster attached below.

Do not feel obliged to answer the door if you are not expecting visitors.

👻 For those taking part:

Only visit houses that are clearly welcoming trick or treaters, for example those with Halloween decorations or pumpkins displayed.

Respect residents' wishes if a property displays a "No Trick or Treat" sign or appears not to be participating.

Parents and guardians should ensure children are supervised where appropriate and remain respectful to residents and property.

🚔 Police Advice Halloween should be an enjoyable and safe event for everyone. Residents are reminded that while most trick or treating is good-natured fun, behaviour that causes alarm, distress, damage to property, or anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated. Please be considerate of your neighbours and respect those who choose not to take part.

By showing kindness and respect for one another, we can help ensure Halloween remains a safe and enjoyable occasion for the whole community.
