Good Evening Resident
Chelmsley Wood Team Newsletter
Today PCSO Karen hung up her boots after 25yrs working for West Midlands Police. Karen is well loved by residents and colleagues alike and will be missed on Chelmsley Wood. Thank you for your service to the Community Karen, we wish you well in your future retirement plans. Karen might not be patrolling our area anymore but STREETWATCH are.
StreetWatch is a community-led project. It’s made up of groups of volunteers who are at least 18 years old. The groups go out and patrol their area for at least two hours every month. The patrols help to stop crime and anti-social behaviour. They also help people in the area get to know each other and encourage others to take an active interest in keeping their area safe. Across the force we have 848 members making up 128 groups – who all kindly agree to take part in a minimum of two hours of activity a month. Chelmsley Wood Streetwatch Team received nominations into the Neighbourhood Watch Network's Volunteer Recognition Awards 2026! I have taken the below extract from the email they received from the organisers.
We are absolutely delighted to inform you that you have been nominated for the Neighbourhood Watch Network's Volunteer Recognition Awards 2026! This nomination is a testament to your exceptional dedication, hard work, and the positive impact you’ve made within your community. Your commitment to helping others and making your neighbourhood a safer, stronger, and more connected place has not gone unnoticed. Being recognised in this way is a significant achievement, and we want to extend our heartfelt congratulations and thanks for all that you do. Volunteers like you are at the heart of everything we do, and your passion genuinely inspires those around you. Not succsesful this time round, the Team didn’t progress any further but fingers crossed for next year guys. While you have not been selected as a finalist this year, we want you to know that your contribution is truly valued. The fact that someone took the time to nominate you is recognition of the difference you are making, and you should be incredibly proud of that.
If you would like to join this amazing Team of volunteers and make a difference in your area, please contact streetwatch@westmidlands.police.uk
