Potential Use of Ford Transit Vans in Recent Vehicle Crime and Burglary Offences

It has come to officers' attention that Ford Transit vans may be emerging as a vehicle of choice for offenders involved in motor vehicle crime and residential burglaries within the area.

This observation is based on two recent incidents:

On 12/10/2026, a motor vehicle theft was reported on Crawley Road, where a Ford Transit van is believed to have been involved. This vehicle is a company van silver in colour with Blue writing advertising the company name. It is known now this vehicle is YP68UCE but is now on fake plates

A Ford Transit van was subsequently recovered on Summer Hill Grove, with enquiries ongoing to establish any links to criminal activity.

At this stage, no direct connection has been confirmed between these incidents. However, the involvement of Ford Transit vans in both matters has been noted and may indicate a developing trend that warrants further attention.

Officers are requested to remain vigilant for Ford Transit vans acting suspiciously, particularly where vehicles are observed conducting repeated passes of residential streets, stopping in unusual locations, or being present in circumstances consistent with burglary or vehicle crime reconnaissance.

Please ensure any relevant sightings, intelligence, or incidents involving Ford Transit vans are submitted and appropriately recorded to assist with ongoing intelligence gathering and crime pattern analysis.
