Update on Fireworks and positive outcome

Community Update

We are aware of ongoing concerns regarding fireworks being set off in the town centre and the impact this is having on local residents and businesses.

On 10 October 2026, while carrying out proactive patrols in the town centre, officers identified a group of youths setting off fireworks. A number of individuals were detained and stop searched, which helped prevent further incidents at the time.

We will continue to carry out targeted patrols and take positive action where offences are identified. We would encourage anyone who witnesses anti-social behaviour involving fireworks to report it to us so that appropriate action can be taken.

Thank you for your continued support in helping keep our community safe. 🚓🎆
