Raising Awareness of Anti-Social Behaviour |
||
|
Good afternoon, In recent months, we have observed a rise in anti-social behaviour across Folkestone town centre and our local neighbourhoods.
This week, I have been delivering school talks, reminding teenagers of their responsibilities when they are in the town centre and other public spaces. We have discussed the impact that anti-social behaviour can have on residents, visitors, and local businesses.
We have discussed offences including criminal damage, such as graffiti, harassment, public order offences, trespassing (particularly at The Folkestone Sports Centre and the Homebase building) and theft. Older year groups have also explored the impact that alcohol and drugs can have on behaviour and how this can influence the choices people make.
Throughout these talks I have encouraged students to remember that it is important to go out, socialise, and have fun with your friends, but always consider how your behaviour and actions may affect others within our community.
I have also highlighted the concept of joint enterprise and explained that they can be held accountable for the actions of their friends if they knowingly participate in, support, or encourage criminal behaviour.
If you have teenagers, please take the opportunity to speak with them about understanding the consequences of their actions and the impact they can have on others.
We want to keep Folkestone a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
Kind Regards PC Kerry Duncan
