TACKLING BURGLARY |

Good morning everyone, We wanted to share a positive result from court involving an individual responsible for a number of commercial burglaries in the area. Back in May 2026, we became aware of a male who was forcing open the sliding doors of a local shop during the early hours of the morning and stealing goods worth over £1,000. After reviewing CCTV footage, officers identified him as someone already known to us for a range of offences on the ward, including anti-social behaviour and public order matters that have negatively affected local residents. Following an investigation and working with our colleagues from the Volume Crime Team, he was arrested and charged with all of the burglaries. At Crown Court yesterday, he was sentenced to 3 years and 4 months' imprisonment. The court also granted a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO), which prohibits him from entering certain retail stores and from threatening or intimidating members of the public. Breaching the order is a criminal offence and can result in his arrest. We are really pleased with this result, which means a prolific offender has been removed from our streets for a significant period of time. We hope this outcome provides reassurance to residents and demonstrates our commitment to tackling crime and anti-social behaviour in the local area. | ||
