Community Safety Message - Residential Burglary Awareness For The Future

Prevention

Residents are advised that officers have received intelligence suggesting that offenders may be using drones to conduct reconnaissance of residential properties prior to committing burglaries.

While the use of drones can be entirely legitimate, we ask residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious drone activity, particularly drones hovering over, filming, or repeatedly monitoring residential homes and gardens without an obvious lawful purpose.

If you observe suspicious drone activity:

Note the time, location, and direction of travel of the drone where possible.

If safe to do so, record any identifying features or footage.

Report non-emergency concerns to police via 101 or through the online reporting system.

If the activity is taking place at the time and you believe a crime is being committed, or there is an immediate risk to people or property, call 999.

Residents are also encouraged to ensure homes are secure, keep valuables out of sight, and report any suspicious individuals or vehicles operating in their area.

Your vigilance helps us prevent crime and keep our neighbourhoods safe.
