Anti-Social Behaviour.
We are aware of recent concerns regarding Anti-social behaviour (ASB) involving groups of youths in the Coed Eva area. We understand incidents of this nature can be upsetting, frustrating and concerning for residents, particularly when they occur close to your home. We want to reassure you that we take these reports of ASB seriously, and work is being done to address the behaviour of those involved.
How can you help keep yourselves and properties safe this season?
Do not engage or react - If youths are shouting, provoking residents or throwing objects, avoid confrontation wherever possible. Reacting may escalate the situation and put you at greater risk of repeated ASB.
Report incidents promptly - Report any ASB that occurs that you are aware of as soon as possible. We are only able to respond and act on reported incidents, you can do this by contacting us on our social media page, or calling 101 for non-urgent reports. If you are in danger or at risk at the current time, always call 999.
Consider CCTV - A camera or front doorbell camera can help deter unwanted behaviour. Any footage captured of any criminal activity or ASB is crucial during our investigations. Please ensure you position your cameras to cover your property, and are in compliance with privacy guidance, regarding your neighbours.
Secure property - Keep doors, windows, and gates locked where appropriate. Ensure your house has appropriate lighting to deter anyone from feeling confident to enter your property unseen.
Look out for one another - Where appropriate, share concerns you have within your community. If you know where elderly or vulnerable residents live, consider communicating with them to understand what may be happening in your neighbourhood.
How to report an incident:
999 - If a crime is happening now, someone is in immediate danger, or there is an immediate threat to life or property. 101 - To report anti-social behaviour or a crime that does not require an emergency response. Online - Visit the Gwent Police website to report concerns or seek further advice, or contact us on our Facebook page.
