E-Bike Stopped and seized |
||
|
Dear Residents,
While on mobile patrol today, myself and colleagues identified an illegally modified e-bike being ridden through Lees. The rider attracted our attention due to the excessive speed of the bike, the apparent use of a throttle, and having ridden through a red traffic light.
The rider was stopped and spoken to by officers. Following further enquiries, the individual admitted to having no driving licence. As a result, they will be reported for multiple offences and will be required to attend court.
The e-bike has also been seized. It will only be returned if the owner can provide the necessary proof of ownership, insurance, and any other relevant legal documentation. Failure to do so may result in the bike not being returned.
We understand the significant concerns that illegally modified e-bikes cause within our communities. They are often ridden dangerously and can pose a serious risk to both pedestrians and other road users as an example this bike was tested and could do over 50kph which would pose a massive risk if this E bike was to be involved in an RTC. Tackling this issue remains a priority, and we will continue to proactively target offenders and take positive action where offences are identified.
Thank you for your continued support and for reporting concerns to us. Kind regards,
