Youth Scrutiny Panel - Having Your Say on Policing |

|
This evening, Oldham's Youth Scrutiny Panel met for another productive session, providing valuable feedback on local policing and helping us better understand young people's views and experiences. During the session, panel members reviewed body-worn video footage from real police incidents and shared their honest opinions on the actions taken by officers. The group discussed how incidents were handled, considered alternative approaches, and provided constructive feedback to help improve future interactions between police and young people. The panel also explored police powers, including the circumstances in which officers can force entry to properties and the use of stop and search powers in relation to suspected drug offences. These discussions generated thoughtful questions and insightful contributions from the young people in attendance. The session was engaging, informative, and respectful throughout, with members demonstrating a genuine interest in understanding policing and holding us to account in a positive way. A huge thank you to all of the young people who attended and contributed to this evening's discussion, as well as the youth workers whose ongoing support helps make these sessions possible. Your participation plays an important role in helping shape local policing and strengthening relationships between Greater Manchester Police and our communities. | ||
