Hello all
I'm sure that you've been wondering where I've been recently having not posted a message on here for nearly two weeks (he says tongue in cheek!), well I've not been anywhere other than being very busy across The Marsh but just haven't got round to posting anything. It's been a combination of dealing with anti-social behaviour in New Romney, Lydd and Brookland which I'm disappointed to have to say but we have and will continue to identify the offenders of this and deal with them appropriately. We've been gathering intelligence about drug dealing and some of that information comes from you which we are so grateful for, those that ply their trade across The Marsh with their dealing will be disrupted as much as we can and we have a proven track record in bringing some of these dealers to court to be convicted so any information you have and are willing to share with us you can email us or contact Crimestoppers however, both avenues will be treated in confidence. I seized another car in Greatstone recently for various issues including not being taxed since September 2025, just a tad overdue wouldn't you say, the DVLA will try and contact the owner to discuss the matter but they'll only have a certain amount of time before the car is crushed. On the note of the DVLA you may have seen quite a few vehicles across New Romney and Lydd that have DVLA wheel clamps on them, this is nothing to do with the police this will be direct from the DVLA and again if the owners don't make good the unpaid tax/fines with the DVLA, the vehicle will be recovered and crushed. I've been helping out my Local Policing Team colleagues at some of their emergencies too, this isn't my primary role but being an emergency call it's only right that I'm pulled away from my Beat duties to help them temporarily. On a lighter note I've recently had the pleasure of visiting the New Romney Beavers and last night the 1st New Romney Scouts, they're a lovely bunch and so are the adults who take the time to run these clubs, thank you for inviting me oh and my colleague PC Eleanour Worley came along last night and she was more popular as she had police hats and ‘kit’ that they could dress up in!
The above is just a snapshot of what I've been up to but along with PC James Hockless we try and dedicate the vast majority of our working days to tackle crime and ASB across The Marsh. Please remember that James and I are here for you all and are happy to be contacted for advice via our emails but it's important that you use the correct channels to report crime and ASB which is via the Kent Police website online reporting tool or ring 101 if you struggle with internet type stuff and of course if it's an emergency then ring 999. James and I still get to know about most of the reports that are submitted via the above channels anyway so don't think just because you haven't emailed us we won't know, some things we don't get to know about immediately because for example, a crime will be allocated for investigation to our Victim Based Crime Team (VBCT) in Folkestone if an investigation is required but quite often the officer in the case will contact us to ask us to carry out some enquiries for them, honestly the amount of doughnuts that are owed to us by them is in the hundreds now!
As the evenings are drawing in please make sure your security lights are working and your CCTV cameras are clean and in working order especially with the run up to Christmas, yep we haven't had Halloween yet I hear you shout but it's just an early ‘heads up’! On the subject of Halloween can parents lock their eggs away from little hands please or lock the kids away and keep the eggs out (joking of course!) and shop staff please don't sell eggs to children unless they have their parents or a responsible adult with them as we're already experiencing ‘egging’ incidents and in all seriousness they can do some damage both to property and people.
Right, that's it for now thank you for reading this.
Steve.
