Local Priorities Drug dealing Concern Update

Dear Resident,

Thank you for taking the local priority survey recently,  we note that you highlighted Drug dealing in the survey so we wanted to provide you with an update on this local matter.

As part of ongoing proactive policing activity, Urban Task Force Officers carried out enforcement action in the Birch Green area of Skelmersdale on 21 October 2026.

During separate arrest enquries, officers arrested an individual on suspicion of possessing a bladed article. Upon entering the property, officers discovered a large-scale cannabis cultivation within the residential address, along with a number of further offensive weapons.

The individual was further arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation and abstracting electricity. Officers also recovered evidence of Class C drug misuse from within the property.

Enquiries remain ongoing and, at this stage, no further information regarding the individual can be released.

This positive result highlights our continued commitment to proactively targeting criminality, disrupting organised crime, and keeping our communities safe. Task Force Officers will continue to work relentlessly alongside local policing teams and partner agencies to pursue those involved in criminal activity and make Lancashire an even safer place to live, work and visit.
