Hello All, Following a helpful chat with a local resident, I’ve decided to add relevant Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) calls to our weekly updates. This will give you a clearer picture of what has been reported to us versus what hasn’t. Just like the crime listings, I will not include any personal or domestic disputes between individuals. You can report ASB online at: https://www.met.police.uk/ro/report/asb/asb-v3/report-antisocial-behaviour/ Assault 16/10/2026 – Warwall: An allegation of assault at a house party. One female became overly intoxicated, grew aggressive, and was pushed to the ground. 17/10/2026 – Beckton Park: A male was spat at after pointing out to an individual that they were fishing illegally. 17/10/2026 – Beckton DLR: A heavily intoxicated male was attempting to approach women and tried to give one a hug. A passer-by noticed that the women were being made to feel uncomfortable and rightly contacted the police. Burglary (Attempted) 21/10/2026 – Kirkham Road: A male climbed over a wall into the rear garden of a residential property. The occupant spotted him trying the handle of the back door. When confronted, the suspect fled the scene. He is described as a light-skinned Black male, approximately 17 years of age, with chin-length braids. Theft 16/10/2026 – Location Unknown: A woman's purse was stolen, and a subsequent attempt was made to use her stolen cards at Beckton ASDA. 15/10/2026 – Asda cash machines: A victim's card was retained by a cash machine. Upon contacting her bank, she discovered that several unauthorised withdrawals had already been made. The victim noted that a man wearing a face mask had been standing very close to her at the adjacent machine. Please remain vigilant of your surroundings when using cash points. Theft of a Vehicle 15/10/2026 – Columbine Avenue: A Ford Transit van was stolen by unknown means. 15/10/2026 – Gallions Reach Tesco: A green KIA was stolen from outside the supermarket. Always remember to leave your cars empty of valuables. Sadly, there are opportunistic people out there who will steal absolutely anything. That is everything for this week. Until next time, be good, have fun, and stay safe. Beckton Neighbourhood Policing Team Did you know… As we creep closer to Halloween…. The Haunting of the Gallions Reach Marshes The lonely marshes stretching from Beckton down toward the Thames have a centuries-old history of maritime misery. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the bodies of executed pirates and criminals were hung in iron cages (gibbets) along this stretch of the river as a warning to incoming ships. Eerie mists regularly roll off the Thames across the Beckton district, and paranormal enthusiasts have long claimed that the shadowy figures of the gibbetted men can occasionally be seen swinging over the modern retail parks and walkways that have since been built over the old mudflats. |
