Dear Resident,
As we start to get towards Halloween and Bonfire we thought we would provide some handy tips and tricks to make the season enjoyable for everyone, whether you're going out trick or treating or prefer to stay in! Tips for Halloween: -If trick or treating knock on those houses with decorations and lights on- often these are signs people are happy to have others knock on their door -Avoid knocking on doors that have posters advertising no trick or treaters- if you're staying in and would like a quiet night please feel free to print one of these posters which is attached to the bottom of the email -Agree a meeting point with your children if lost whilst out trick or treating -If possible carry glow sticks, a battery operated candle or something hi vis while out trick or treating, to help children safely cross the road -If older children are going out without adults, advise them to stay in a larger group and if they have a mobile phone take it with them in case of getting lost -Advise children not to enter any houses while trick or treating without a trusted adult
Tips for Bonfire Night: -Attending a big event? Take a picture of what your children are wearing in case they are lost. In the moment it can be easy to forget if panicking. -Stand well back from any bonfires or firework displays, these can easily get out of control or fire in the wrong direction -Call 999 if you see any fires which have got out of control or are not -Never touch a firework or sparkler which looks like it has gone out- place sparklers in a bucket of water when finished -Advise children to look for safe adults- this could be Police or stewards in his vis at an organised event for example
We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Halloween and Bonfire NIght, however you choose to celebrate. If you do see anything which causes concern please call via 999 in an emergency or 101 if this is not an emergency.
Thankyou, South Ward NPT
