Woman issued with Criminal Behaviour Order in Thorpe St Andrew |

A woman who has caused ongoing nuisance and anti-social behaviour in Thorpe St Andrew and assaulted police officers has been issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). Anne Egglestone, 63, of Spinney Close, Norwich, appeared at Norwich Magistrates' Court yesterday (Thursday 22 October) after pleading guilty to four counts of assaulting a constable in the execution of duty, two counts of failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice, obstructing a constable in the execution of duty, common assault and criminal damage. The charges relate to two incidents. In the first, officers were called to a disturbance on 18 July 2026, where Egglestone was verbally abusive and aggressive towards neighbours on Spinney Close. During the incident, she assaulted a woman and caused damage to a mobile phone in the altercation. The second incident occurred between 15 and 16 August 2026, when Egglestone made several calls to the Norfolk Police switchboard that were not genuine, including requests for information relating to ambulance workers who had previously attended her address. During these calls, she was abusive and argumentative. Due to the persistence of the calls throughout the evening, officers attended and arrested Egglestone for failing to comply with her Community Protection Notice, which had been issued previously on 13 March 2026. Following her arrest in the early hours of 16 August, Egglestone immediately resisted officers and became verbally abusive, physically aggressive and violent towards them throughout the arrest and while in custody. Four officers were assaulted after being bitten and kicked. The conditions of Egglestone's CBO will remain in place for three years and state that she must not: • Participate in behaviour that causes nuisance, disturbance or annoyance, including shouting, screaming, swearing, acting in a threatening or abusive manner, or being intoxicated and anti-social in a way that causes undue concern to neighbours or other persons lawfully present in Spinney Close, Norwich. • Contact police using the 101 or 999 service unless she has a genuine reason to do so. During any genuine call, she must not cause nuisance or annoyance to call handlers or service representatives. During her court appearance, Egglestone was also given an 18-week prison sentence, suspended for two years, and ordered to pay £350 compensation, a £154 victim surcharge and £85 in costs. Sgt Sam Barwick, from the Operational Partnership Team, said: "We hope this CBO will act as a deterrent to Egglestone's persistent anti-social behaviour. This type of behaviour has a detrimental effect on those living around her and significantly impacts emergency service workers carrying out their duties." | ||
