STAYING SAFE DURING STORM AUSTEN |

#StrongWinds | We are continuing to see high winds across Staffordshire and are reminding residents to take extra care when out and about.
Strong winds can create hazardous conditions, so please take a few simple precautions to keep yourself and others safe.
Here are some safety tips to remember:
🚗 If driving: Reduce your speed, keep a safe distance from other vehicles and take extra care when passing high-sided vehicles, cyclists and motorcyclists.
🌳 Watch out for falling branches: Avoid parking or walking beneath trees, particularly during periods of strong gusts.
🏡 Secure loose items: If it is safe to do so, secure garden furniture, bins, trampolines and other items that could be blown away.
🚶 Take care when walking: Be mindful of flying debris, slippery surfaces and sudden gusts of wind, especially in exposed areas.
🏠 Check your property: Close windows and doors, and stay away from damaged fences, trees or structures that could collapse.
🛑 Avoid unnecessary travel: If conditions are particularly bad, consider postponing non-essential journeys until it is safer.
📢 Please look out for vulnerable neighbours, keep up to date with local weather warnings and follow advice from the Met Office.
If you come across fallen trees or debris causing an immediate danger to the public, please report it to the relevant authority. In an emergency, where there is an immediate risk to life or danger, call 999.
