Flood water

Flood water

🚗🌧️ Flooded roads can be far more dangerous than they appear.

As periods of heavy rain continue, we're reminding everyone to take extra care when travelling and never attempt to drive through flood water unless you are absolutely certain it is safe to do so.

Flood water can be deeper than it looks, hide damaged road surfaces, open drains, debris, or strong currents. Just a small amount of moving water can be enough to sweep a vehicle off the road, placing drivers and passengers at significant risk.

⚠️ Remember:

Turn around and find an alternative route if a road is flooded.

Do not ignore road closure signs or warning barriers.

Slow down and take extra care around flooded areas to avoid creating waves that may affect nearby homes and pedestrians.

If your vehicle becomes stranded, move to safety and call for assistance if required.

Never allow children to play in flood water.

By planning ahead and taking a cautious approach, we can all help keep ourselves and others safe during severe weather.

✅ Advice: If in doubt, don't drive through it - turn around, don't drown.
