Today, we gathered to remember PC Kulwant "Sid" Sidhu on the 27th anniversary of his death, paying tribute to a much-loved officer who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the Richmond Borough community on 24th October 1999. The memorial service was led by Chief Superintendent Dan Knowles and attended by Sid’s family, Deputy Mayor of Richmond Matthew Wherry, Commander Rob Davies of the London Fire Brigade, former colleagues, serving officers and friends. Together, they honoured Sid’s memory, reflected on his dedicated service, and remembered the lasting impact he continues to have on those who knew him and the community he proudly served. Floral tributes were laid at Sid’s memorial as those gathered took a moment to reflect on his courage, commitment and selflessness. While 27 years have passed, Sid’s legacy remains an important part of Richmond’s policing family and a reminder of the sacrifices made by officers in the service of others. We are especially grateful to Sid’s family for joining us and helping to ensure that Sid’s memory lives on. Their presence serves as a powerful reminder that behind every police officer is a family whose lives are forever shaped by their service and sacrifice. PC Kulwant “Sid” Sidhu will always be remembered.
