"Call the police" ๐ฑ ๐
It's a phrase we all know - but in a technology-driven world, did you know that "calling" the police is not the only way of contacting them in a non-emergency? ๐คจ
๐ป You can report non-urgent crime using their report forms on the GMP website. You can also go online to request an update on a case that you've already reported, or to provide an update if anything has changed.
๐ฌ You can receive advice, support and guidance by using live chat, which can be accessed via the GMP website.
๐ You can use the GMP website to tell them about something you've seen or heard.
All of these options provide the exact same outcome as calling police on 101 - it's just a different technology used to process the information.
Knowing how and when to contact police is important, and could mean you getting the right help you need. ๐
Don't forget:
๐ If you require immediate police attendance because a crime is in progress, someone is in danger or the situation is likely to escalate very soon, always dial 999
๐ If you don't need police to attend straight away, this is classed as a non-emergency and you should visit the GMP website to report the crime, or dial 101
You can learn more about your contact options on the GMP website: https://www.gmp.police.uk/contact/af/contact-us-beta/contact-us/
