General Prevention advice.

As British Summer Time has now ended, the evenings are becoming darker much earlier. Unfortunately, opportunist criminals may use this as an opportunity to target homes when residents are away.

It is important that we continue to raise awareness of crime prevention advice and encourage you to share this information with family, friends, and neighbours. Taking simple preventative measures can help reduce the risk of burglary and prevent you from becoming a victim of crime.

There are some simple steps you can take to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of burglary:

Ensure all doors and windows are locked, even when you are at home.

Leave lights on timers to give the impression that someone is in.

Keep valuables out of sight from windows.

Secure sheds, garages and side gates.

Consider installing CCTV, a video doorbell, or an intruder alarm.

Ask a trusted neighbour to keep an eye on your property if you are away.
