Car crime

Dear Resident

Following several recent vehicle crimes reported in the area, we would like to remind residents to take a few simple precautions to help protect their vehicles and belongings.

Please remember to:

Lock your vehicle whenever it is left unattended, even if only for a few minutes.

Fully close all windows and ensure doors are securely locked.

Remove valuables from your vehicle, including bags, wallets, mobile phones, tools, and sat navs.

Do not leave any items on display that could attract opportunist thieves.

Keep vehicle keys secure and out of sight at home, away from doors and windows.

If your vehicle has keyless entry, consider using a signal-blocking pouch to help prevent keyless theft.

Always double-check that your vehicle has locked correctly before walking away.

The majority of vehicle crime is opportunistic, and taking these simple steps can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a victim.

If you witness anyone acting suspiciously around vehicles or have concerns about crime in your area, please report it to us via 101 or online. In an emergency, always call 999.

Thank you for your continued support in helping to keep our community safe.
