🚔 Motor Vehicle Thefts - Protect Your Vehicle and Property North Yorkshire Police is urging residents to take extra precautions following reports of motor bike thefts across the area. Offenders are targeting vehicles parked on driveways, residential streets and public car parks. In some cases, thieves are exploiting insecure vehicles, while others are targeting keyless vehicles using technology designed to amplify key fob signals. We are asking everyone to remain vigilant and take a few simple steps to help reduce the risk of becoming a victim of vehicle crime. How You Can Protect Your Vehicle🔒 Always lock your vehicle, even if leaving it unattended for a short period. 🔑 Keep vehicle keys, spare keys and keyless entry fobs out of sight and away from doors, windows and letterboxes. 📡 Consider storing keyless entry fobs in a signal-blocking pouch or Faraday box when not in use. 🚗 Remove all valuables from your vehicle or keep them out of sight. This includes handbags, wallets, mobile phones, tools and sat-navs. 💡 Park in a well-lit area or secure garage whenever possible. 🛡️ Consider fitting additional security devices such as steering wheel locks, immobilisers or vehicle trackers. 🔧 Owners of vans should remove tools overnight and consider enhanced security measures for tool storage. 🏠 Ensure your home and garage are secure, as offenders may target properties to gain access to vehicle keys. Report Suspicious ActivityPlease report suspicious behaviour such as individuals trying vehicle door handles, looking into parked vehicles, or acting unusually around residential driveways. If a crime is in progress, call 999 immediately. For non-emergency matters or to report suspicious activity, contact 101 or report online via the North Yorkshire Police website. By working together and taking preventative action, we can help reduce vehicle crime and keep our communities safe. Please share this message with your family, friends and neighbours. | ||
