🚴‍♂️FREE Bike Marking Event outside Lee Valley Ice Centre : Thurs 5th Nov 11:00am🚴‍♂️

Dear resident,

Your local Metropolitan Police Safer Neighbourhood Team will be holding a FREE bike marking event this Thursday between 11:00am - 1.00pm outside Lee Valley Ice Centre, Lea Bridge Road, E10 7QL.

Bring your bike/s to be security marked and registered with www.BikeRegister.com

If possible, please have your bikes frame number to hand for the marking officer, as it speeds up the marking process. Most bikes have the frame number stamped in to the metal under the bottom bracket or on a sticker on newer models.

WHY GET YOUR BIKE MARKED?

Bikes are over 80% less likely to be stolen when displaying the BikeRegister QR barcode label.

The marking and registering is carried out by ourselves. We only use the recognised bike register system with Selectamark Security System Tamper Resistant QR Barcode labels featuring a unique BikeRegister ID and secure owner data storage.

·  BikeRegister is the UK’s national cycle database

·  Used to search for stolen bikes by every UK Police Force via secure online Police portal, available 24/7

·  Aimed at reducing thefts and helping the police return stolen bikes to owners, and in turn securing convictions

·  When a bike is stopped or recovered, the labels can be scanned with a smartphone and identified on the BikeRegister website. This makes bikes with these labels a huge deterrent to thieves

·  Ownership can be securely transferred by the keeper when a bike is sold

·  Over 1,500,000 bikes now registered nationwide

·  https://www.bikeregister.com/advice/how-it-works explains how the marking process works although we will do everything for you (see the video under “Membership Plus Kit”)
