Weekly round-up from your local Neighbourhood Team

Hello all,

This week from St Matthews, it has been a busy and pro-active week leading up to Halloween. The local PCSO's held a surgery at the hub in Walsall town centre's bus station, offering out advice on staying safe while it is coming up to Halloween and also offering out the “anti Halloween” and the “ no trick-or-treaters” posters to those who wished to have them for their homes. There has also been plenty of pro-active patrols in the town centre too as footfall is high. This has been resulting in stop searches being carried out and arrests where necessary. Speedwatches has also been conducted in the area of Highgate to tackle the speeding issues in the area. Also it offered a presence of police in Hi-vis to deter any possible issues that may have occurred.

Patrols have also been taking place in Caldmore and Caldmore Green tackling the ASB issues that have been occurring and also to manage the parking issues that are also happening in the area. Presence has also been highly requested within the Arboretum which in response to that we have conducted patrols around the arboretum also.

A vehicle has also been seized by our PC's for having a misrepresented number plate. This was rectified by the vehicle being taken off the road and DVLA being informed which may result in the number plate being revoked.

An arrest has been made on an individual regarding a domestic matter, as they had breached their court- imposed bail conditions. This was conducted by our local officers to safeguard those who were involved in this matter. Another arrest was made whereby an individual was wanted by us for an emergency recall to prison, resulting in that individual going to custody in prep for the recall.

📅 Upcoming Police & Community Engagements 📅

There are still many upcoming events for our “Mischief fortnight” operation. More patrols are set to take place in the Arboretum for bonfire night as we want to show a presence while it is happening to ensure that everything is running smoothly and no issues are caused. We are also conducting patrols around different places of worship that are celebrating Diwali the following day, to also ensure that everything is going well. We also plan to remain pro-active and vigilant in the town centre during this time.

Another speedwatch is set to take place in the Highgate area to once again tackle the ongoing issues of speeding in and around the 20MPH zones that are populated around the different streets in Highgate.
