Dear Resident

This week the Aston Neighbourhood Team have been involved in further stop search activities, one of which resulted in the safeguarding of a vulnerable female.

The team has made an arrest for a male for failure to appear in court following an assault on a police colleague. Furthermore the team assisted in an arrest of an intoxicated male who had been causing a public disturbance.

Your local officers have been in parks including Burbury, Yellow Park, Phillip Street Park, Hilltop Park, St George's Park and Aston Park everyday this week with the aim to reduce anti-social behaviour, particularly in relation to fireworks and violent crime. We have also spent the days leading up to Halloween in our student accommodations, providing safety advice, liaising with partnerships, and gathering intelligence.

During our fireworks patrols 31/10/26, we responded to an incident whereby a member of the public sighted a group of males in possession of a weapon. Following an area search with assistance from a dogs unit, we seized a machete from the streets and some fireworks. The incident resulted in the arrest of several offenders by our armed response unit before any harm could be caused.

We aim to take a preventative and proactive approach to policing the streets, and take a no tolerance approach to disorderly, violent or anti-social behaviour.

Please remember to secure doors and windows, report anti social behaviour via 999 in an emergency, 101, or crimestoppers 0800 555 111

We appreciate your ongoing support, we hope you've had a safe and enjoyable Halloween.
