🚨 COMMUNITY ALERT: INCREASE IN BT CABLE THEFTS - FANGFOSS AND SURROUNDING RURAL AREAS 🚨
Humberside Police are advising residents to remain vigilant following a significant increase in reports of BT cable thefts in and around Fangfoss and neighbouring rural communities.
These offences can cause substantial disruption to telephone and broadband services, impacting residents, businesses and vulnerable members of the community. Intelligence and information provided by the public are vital in helping to identify those responsible and prevent further offences.
What to do if you witness suspicious activity •Do not approach, challenge or engage with any individuals involved. •Where safe to do so, record vehicle registration numbers, vehicle descriptions and details of those involved. •Take pictures of the offenders and their vehicle if safe to do so. •Call 999 immediately if you witness a cable theft in progress or believe an offence is currently being committed. •Report non-emergency information or suspicious circumstances by calling 101.
Reporting Cable Theft When making a report, please ensure you state that the incident relates to Rural Crime and quote Operation Mortar. This assists with the accurate assessment and deployment of police resources.
Your Information Matters The support of local communities is essential in tackling rural crime. Prompt reporting of suspicious activity may provide crucial intelligence, assist ongoing investigations and help prevent further disruption to local services. If you see suspicious activity around telecommunications infrastructure, report it. Do not assume someone else has already called.
