Dear Members.
Following the sad passing of the Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator for Thorpe Mandeville a new Coordinator needs to be found.
This voluntary role is very much at the heart of the community ensuring that local residents concerns are heard by the local neighbourhood police. The amount of time required very much depends on the role holder, but as a rule of thumb it is a busier role in larger towns than in smaller more rural communities, in Thorpe Mandeville I would expect it to only be a few hours each month.
There is plenty of help and support available to anyone who might be interested, this is generally either via online resources provided by Neighbourhood Watch centrally or in the form of peer support from other local Coordinators. There are around 50 schemes in South Northants, some active, some less so, but their Coordinators are very friendly and always keen to welcome new volunteers on board.
If you think this something you might be interested in doing, please do respond to the message and I can send you further information and we can have an informal telephone call for you to find out more.
Unfortunately Neighbourhood Watch does not permit schemes to stay open without a Coordinator in place, so if no one comes forward by the end of November the scheme in Thorpe Mandeville will have to close.
Best wishes
Nick Hamp ( Membership Support Administrator South Northamptonshire )
