Here Are Top Tips To Stay Safe This Bonfire Night;
1, Know Where Your Children Are. If your children are going out, make sure you know where they're going, who they're with and what time they'll be home. Remind them to stay away from unsupervised bonfires and fireworks. 2, Keep Your Distance From Fireworks. Never approach, touch or pick up a firework that has been lit or appears to have failed. Fireworks can cause serious injuries, even when they look as though they have gone out. 3, Stay Alert When Walking The Streets. Fireworks may be set off unexpectedly in residential areas. Keep children close, stay aware where fireworks are being set off nearby. 4, What Should Children Do If Fireworks Are Being Thrown In The Street? Tell children to move away immediately and get to a safe place. They should never approach, pick up or throw a firework back. If they feel threatened, they should find a trusted adult and ask for help. If anyone is in immediate danger, call 999. 5, Take Extra Care Near Roads. Wear bright or reflective clothing where possible, use pavements and cross roads safely. Drivers should slow down and remain alert for children and pedestrians, especially after dark. 6, Don't Get Involved In Anti-Social Behaviour. Throwing fireworks at people , vehicles or properties is dangerous and can cause serious injury or damage. If you witness this behaviour, move to safety and report it. 7, Think About Others. Loud bangs can frighten pets and distress older people., young children and vulnerable members of our community. Please be considerate of your neighbours. 8, Choose Organised Displays Where Possible. Organised firework displays are generally a safer way to enjoy the celebrations. If using fireworks at home, adults should handle them responsibly and always follow the safety instructions. 9, Know Who To Contact. Report non-emergency concerns to South Wales Police via 101 or online. If someone is in immediate danger or an emergency is taking place , call 999.
