Safer Business Action Week is Coming to Thanet

Keeping our town centres, retail areas and business communities safe is a shared responsibility, and this month we will be stepping up our efforts to support local businesses across Thanet as part of Safer Business Action Week.

This national week of action will see Kent Police working alongside partner agencies to tackle the issues that matter most to retailers, business owners and staff, helping to create safer places to work, shop and visit as we approach the busy festive season.

What is Safer Business Action Week?

Safer Business Action Week is a national initiative coordinated by the National Business Crime Centre (NBCC). Taking place from the 9th to 15th November, the campaign brings together police forces and partner organisations to tackle business crime, retail theft, anti-social behaviour and prolific offenders.

The aim is to reduce crime, improve safety and strengthen relationships between businesses and those working to protect them.

What will be happening in Thanet?

Throughout the week, officers from Kent Police and partner agencies will be carrying out a range of activities, including:

✅ High-visibility patrols in key business and retail areas

✅ Targeted action against prolific offenders and those responsible for repeat offending

✅ Crime prevention visits and advice for local businesses

✅ Community engagement events 

Our officers will be visiting shops, businesses and hospitality venues across Thanet to speak directly with owners, managers and staff. We want to hear about the issues affecting you, understand local concerns and provide practical support to help reduce crime and improve safety.

If you see our officers and partners out and about, please take the opportunity to speak with us.

Your local knowledge is invaluable and helps us identify patterns, focus resources and develop effective solutions to the issues affecting your business and surrounding area.

You can also contact your local Beat Officers through My Community Voice to report concerns, discuss recurring issues or provide information regarding repeat offenders, shop thefts or anti-social behaviour.
