Earlier this year, we shared an update regarding the arrest and conviction of Anthony Durkan following an investigation into a series of voyeurism offences in Islington. Durkan, 35, has now been sentenced to four years' imprisonment at Snaresbrook Crown Court after pleading guilty to 26 voyeurism offences committed between January 2020 and March 2026. The investigation began after two women reported being filmed through the windows of their homes. In response, officers reviewed CCTV and doorbell footage and increased patrols in the area. On 25 March 2026, during the first night of this activity, officers spotted a man matching the suspect's description. A plain-clothed officer observed him carrying out the same pattern of behaviour reported by victims and he was arrested shortly afterwards. Further examination of devices seized following his arrest uncovered evidence of a series of additional voyeurism offences committed between January 2020 and March 2026. In addition to his prison sentence, Durkan will also be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger, whose team led the investigation, said: "This investigation was driven by the determination of officers to act on reports from local women and identify the perpetrator. Through proactive patrols, officers were able to spot Durkan carrying out the same offending behaviour and arrest him before more women could be targeted. I would like to thank the victims for the courage they showed in coming forward and supporting this investigation. Their actions, alongside the proactive work of officers who identified and stopped Durkan's offending, have undoubtedly prevented further harm." The investigation remains ongoing and officers are continuing to appeal for anyone who believes they may have been affected to come forward. Officers are particularly keen to hear from women in Islington and north London between January 2020 and March 2026 who may have noticed unusual activity around their home, especially late at night or in the early hours of the morning. Members of the public are also asked to report suspicious behaviour, such as someone lingering near residential properties and looking or filming through windows. Footage captured on doorbell or CCTV cameras could prove vital to any investigation. Anyone with information can contact the investigation team via OpParinga@met.police.uk. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
