E-scooters seized during days of action

Dear Resident,

One of the priorities for our southern neighbourhood officers is tackling the anti-social use of vehicles, and part of this work includes targeting the use of e-scooters.

Our officers have been taking regular action against the issue – particularly on the bus route in Orton.

Last month, the team seized ten e-scooters.

The team will continue to carry out this action when they can.

Need another reminder of the laws around e-scooters?

They are classed as motor vehicles, which means to legally use one, you need the correct licence, insurance, and tax. Riding without this could result in being given a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) and points on your licence.

It is not currently possible to get insurance for privately owned e-scooters in the UK, meaning it is illegal to use them on a public road or in public spaces. If you own an e-scooter, you can only legally use it on private land with permission of the landowner.
