Thieves don't always need your keys to steal your car |
||
We’ve seen a few recent 'keyless' car incidents around the county including Norwich, where people have stolen, or attempted to steal these cars and we want to make sure you have some advice on how to help protect your vehicle. Criminals can use electronic devices to capture or amplify the signal from your key fob, allowing them to unlock and start vehicles without needing the physical key. The most simple step is to keep the keys away from the vehicle and not to store them near your front door, windows or outside walls. It’s also a good idea to keep your keys in a protective signal-blocking bag such as a Faraday Bag. You can also check if your fob features a motion-sensor sleep mode, or if the wireless signals can be manually switched off when not being used. If you see anything suspicious please report it to us either online or by calling 101. If a crime is in progress please call 999. More helpful tips can be found here. | ||
