🚴♂️ Appeal for Information Following Dangerous Cycling Behaviour
We are investigating reports of a group of teenage boys riding bicycles dangerously on Friday 30 October at approximately 4.00pm. The group were reported to have been riding in the carriageway, performing wheelies, swerving towards oncoming vehicles including cars and buses before moving away at the last moment, and riding several abreast, causing delays to traffic. Further concerns were raised about their behaviour in and around the Sainsbury's car park, where they are alleged to have followed a member of the public and attempted to ride in front of their vehicle.
This type of behaviour places the cyclists, motorists, passengers and other road users at significant risk of serious injury. CCTV footage is currently being reviewed as part of our enquiries. This work supports our ongoing commitment to road safety and tackling anti-social behaviour within our communities, which are key local policing priorities.
We want our communities to feel safe when travelling on our roads and using local businesses. Everyone has a responsibility to use the roads safely and consider the impact their actions can have on others.
Were you a witness to this incident? Do you know who the young people involved may be? If so, please get in touch with us. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Safer Neighbourhood Team via www.neighbourhoodmatters.co.uk. Your information could help us identify those involved and prevent further incidents. #RoadSafety #SaferNeighbourhoodTeams #CommunitySafety #ASB #NeighbourhoodMatters
