Spree crime at LRI Car Park |

Good evening all,
Over the Halloween weekend, we recieved over 15 reports of staff vehicles being broken into within the Leicester Royal Infirmary staff multi-storey car park, based between Welford Road and Infirmary Road.
I'd like to report that after obtaining CCTV footage from the security team at the LRI, we managed to identify a suspect for these offences. Yesterday, the male suspect was arrested and dealt with by the Riverside team.
The male was charged for 2 theft from motor vehicles, 6 attempt theft from motor vehicles, 1 fraud by false representation, after using a bank card stolen from a vehicle, and 1 going euipped to steal. Attached to these charges were a further 6 offences which will be taken into consideration at court. On top of the local charges, the male was further arrested for a recall to prison for a different force. He has subsequently been remanded in custody until his hearing later in the month, then will complete his recall to prison in HMP.
This is a really positive result and one that will hopefully help prevent any further offences at the location and surrounding areas.
As always, please ensure no valuables are being left in vehicles wherever you park your vehicle around the city, especially on show. Try and park in locations that are covered by CCTV or have enhanced security measures. Theft from motor vehicles are offences the beat team are prioritising this month and will be taking opportunities to give safety advice at beat events. Our patrols will also be dictated by key vehicle parking locations across the beat.
If you have been a victim of this type of offence recently, please ensure it is reported to police. Likewise, please report any incident to us in which you are a vicitm of.
Any questions, please don't hesistate to get in touch.
Many thanks
Sgt David Wilson
