Women and Girls Walk and Talk Events - Winter 2026 |

Good evening Resident,
This e-mail has been written for you by one of the Neighbourhood Police Officers for Watford Central. My name is Fiona and in light of the upcoming 16 Days of Action against Gender-Based Violence, taking place from 25th November to 10th December, I would like to organise some events here in Watford addressing feelings of safety among women and girls.
Previously, ‘Walk and Talk’ Events have been organised across Hertfordshire in St Albans, Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, Ware, and Stevenage, but now I am looking to bring the event closer to you! These events will invite women and girls to meet with one or two female Police Officers and PCSOs and walk around the town centre for around an hour to chat, discuss feelings of safety, point out specific locations which may cause worry, and ultimately shine a spotlight on challenges unique to women and girls in Watford. This event is meant to connect women of all ages and backgrounds with their local Police to increase confidence that we are tackling the problems that matter most to you. We want women and girls to feel safe during their commute; safe to exercise in green spaces; safe to go for lunch whilst out in the town centre; and just as safe alone as in a group.
My aim is to run an event on a weekday (during the day), a weekend (during the day), and a weekday (in the early evening). There is no obligation to attend all three events, but I wanted to give people a few options to cater for different lifestyles and times of day. I propose the following dates (time and location TBC):
Wednesday 25th November - Daytime Sunday 6th December - Daytime Thursday 10th December - Early Evening (some time between 5pm-8pm)
I'm sending this email first to gauge if any readers are immediately interested in any of the proposed dates? If so, please ‘Reply’ to this message below or contact me directly on: fiona.hitchcock@herts.police.uk . I'd love to hear from you and welcome you to this kind of event. If there is enough interest, I will send out engagement invites and meeting details.
Thank you for reading so far. If you have read to this point and would like to contact me about any other Watford Town Centre (and surrounding areas), please feel free on the above contact information.
Many thanks, PC Fiona Hitchcock | ||
