As we approach Bonfire Night, we want everyone in our community to enjoy the celebrations safely and responsibly. Fireworks can be great fun when used correctly, but they can also cause serious injury, distress to others, damage to property, and harm to animals if misused. Know the Law Fireworks can generally be used between 7am and 11pm. The exception for Bonfire Night (5 November) is that fireworks may be used until midnight. Please remember: โ
You must be 18 or over to buy or use most fireworks (Categories 2 and 3). โ
Fireworks should only be used on private property, such as your garden. โ
It is illegal to set off or throw fireworks in the street, parks, or other public places. โ
It is illegal to sell adult fireworks to anyone under 18. Be Considerate Many residents, particularly young children, elderly people, veterans, and pet owners, can be affected by excessive or irresponsible firework use. Please be mindful of your neighbours and keep celebrations safe and respectful. Reporting Firework Misuse If fireworks are being used irresponsibly, causing nuisance, or being set off in public places: ๐ Report anti-social behaviour to police online through the Metropolitan Police website. ๐จ Call 999 immediately if: ยท Fireworks are being used to target people, vehicles, homes or emergency workers. ยท There is an immediate risk to life, serious injury, or significant damage. ยท Disorder or violence is taking place. ๐ช If you believe a retailer is selling fireworks to persons under 18, please report this to Trading Standards. Working Together We will be conducting patrols across the Ealing during the Bonfire Night period and will take action where offences are identified. We ask residents to celebrate responsibly, look out for one another, and report concerns so we can keep our community safe. Thank you for your support, and we wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Bonfire Night. |
