Hello Residents;
Our partners at Bolton Council are currently updating Bolton’s Serious Violence Strategy and would like to hear you views.
You don’t have to have been affected by serious violence to take part, your experiences and perceptions will help the council understand local concerns, identify emerging issues and shape future priorities for the period 2027 – 2030.
Serious violence includes incidents that cause, or are likely to cause, significant physical, emotional or psychological harm. This may include violence involving weapons, serious assaults, domestic abuse, sexual violence, exploitation and violence linked to criminal activity.
Since the last Serious Violence Consultation in 2023, partners across Bolton Council have continued to invest in preventing violence before it happens. This has included
• Mentoring and support for children, young people and families, • Education and awareness programmes, • Community outreach and diversionary activities, • Support for victims and survivors, • Targeted enforcement against those involved in violence and exploitation, • Environmental improvements to make local areas safer. The Serious Violence Strategy (2027-2030) proposes three themes as priority work areas for the partnership to prevent and reduce serious violence. These are: • Safer Places and Spaces (A focus on geographical areas and communities where violent incidents happen more often than in surrounding areas). • Gender based violence (including domestic abuse, stalking and harassment). • Serious Youth Violence (violence affecting children and young people).
This is your opportunity to get involved and give your thoughts on changes strategy that will then be put into action in our communities.
Please note this is NOT a Greater Manchester Police consultation but a national consultation.
The survey is broken into two separate consultations, one for people aged 10 to 18yrs (or 19 to 24 with special educational needs or disabilities) and another for adults.
