Serious crime in Croydon is falling |

We are solving more offences, catching more offenders and reducing the number of crimes being committed. Fear of crime has a negative impact on residents' quality of life. I want to share some of the excellent work being carried out and the results being achieved, so that you can have confidence in your local police teams.
Solving more offences - In the last year, there has been a 4.9% increase in the number of crimes solved, including drug offences, violence against women and girls, hate crime, public order offences, robbery, violent crime, sexual offences and knife crime. More offenders are being held to account for their actions and removed from our streets.
Reducing serious crime - Compared with this time last year, violent crime is down 7%, robbery is down 12% and knife crime is down 18% across Croydon. In the town centre, reductions are even greater, with both knife crime and robbery down by more than 25%. This has been achieved through increased visible police patrols, alongside targeted funding that allows us to focus on the drivers of knife crime. This means fewer residents are becoming victims of crime and suffering its impact.
Working in partnership - The police work closely with the Council, community and faith groups, the voluntary and charitable sectors, and other local organisations. Together, we support victims, giving them the confidence to report crime, while also diverting people away from offending, preventing crime and tackling its root causes.
Listening to residents - Local officers attend Ward Panel meetings and community engagement events to understand what matters most to residents. This has led to targeted action against antisocial behaviour, shoplifting, vehicle crime, the illegal use of scooters and e-bikes, drug supply and use, and speeding.
How you can help us - If you see a crime taking place, call us on 101 or, in an emergency, dial 999. You can also report information anonymously via www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.
Please help us stay connected to local issues by encouraging others to sign up at www.metengage.co.uk. where you can make your voice heard about what matters to you, as well as get updates about policing in your local area. | ||
