Preventing personal theft when using a cash machine

Larkswood Safer Neighbourhood team have received recent reports of  attempted distraction thefts happening at cash machines in the Chingford Mount area with suspicious males loitering in the vicinity of the machines.

If you need to use an ATM please try to follow the advice below to keep your money safe.

Try to use the ATM during the day. If you have a choice use the machine inside the bank.

Be aware of prying eyes when using a cash machine. If anyone stands to close or tries to distract you walk away

Stand as close to the machine as possible and cover the keyboard with your hand.

When you have withdrawn your cash put it away immediately.
