Hello Resident

Door Security is a big thing when it comes to burglary and break in preventions. Here are a few tips to keep your home safer all year round:

 Essential Safety Tips

  Upgrade to 3-Star Cylinders: Ensure your locks are "Snap Secure" to prevent a common local technique called lock snapping.

  Install a Peep Hole: Never open the door to strangers without seeing them first.

  Use a Door Chain: This provides a physical barrier while you check ID for cold callers.

  Check the Frame: Ensure the strike plate (where the bolt enters) is reinforced with long screws.

  Double Lock PVC Doors: Always lift the handle and turn the key; just lifting the handle does not fully engage the security hooks.

  Key Security: Never leave keys in the back of the lock or on a hook visible through the letterbox.

  Letterbox "Fishing": Before the rise of video doorbells, thieves in the area frequently used rods/wooden sticks to "fish" for car keys left on hallway tables, so keep them somewhere out of sight and unreachable from the letterbox and open windows.
