Off Road Bike seized |

Hi,
For information another off road bike seized today in Milnrow we are trying to get to grips with this issue as we understand this is a local priority. We will continue to stop and seize these bikes where can hopefully residents understand the difficulties police can face tackling this particular type of issue with how easily they can get away from patrols but any information is very helpful as in this case local intelligence led patrols to an address the bike was stored at having made off from officers where it was seized. This can be passed to GMP via 101 or using - Independent UK charity taking crime information anonymously | Crimestoppers - if people would prefer to pass information this way.
Some feedback from a local resident which I take onboard is residents have begun to feel reporting is pointless however if I can encourage to report where you can GMP release funding yearly for OP HURRICANE - Operation Hurricane is back for 2026 | Greater Manchester Police - this is a dedicated operation specifically targeted at off road bikes, e bikes and similar. The funding is allocated on the basis of the amount of reports made so while we know as your local team there is clearly an issue in Milnrow, Littleborough & Newhey the funding is allocated at more of a force level based of reports/figures. Sadly for 2026 none of our areas reached the figures requirement to beat other areas across GMP to the funding so I can't stress how important the reports are if this can be passed onto people in your local communities.
Hopefully this helps to highlight how important the reporting is while we completely understand it can be frustrating.
Many thanks,
Mike PC 16639 Froggatt P2 Team 1 (The Pennines) - Littleborough, Milnrow, Newhey & Wardle Village NBO Team.
