Arrest as part of sexual assault investigation

Arrest as part of sexual assault investigation

Dear Resident,

You may have seen posts on social media that two teenage girls were inappropriately touched whilst walking along Alfred Street earlier this week.

After reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses, we have now arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of sexual assault, attempted sexual assault and shop theft.

He was arrested yesterday evening at Manchester Airport.

The man was further arrested for two counts of sexual assault in relation to an incident in Wolverhampton on 21 September.

Reporting a sexual offence can be daunting and we're here to support you whether you're ready to report it to us or if you'd prefer to talk to someone else.

If you want to talk it through before deciding whether to report to us, you can talk to a Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor service (ISVA) or another support service - Support after rape and sexual assault | West Midlands Police.

To report to police please call 101. Always call 999 in an emergency.

For more information about how to report a sexual offence visit: How to report rape, sexual assault or other sexual offences | West Midlands Police.

Many thanks,

Lucy
