Staying safe this winter!
As we now move into the colder side of the year and winter is fast approaching, West Midlands Police is reminding everyone to take a few simple steps to help keep themselves, their families and their communities safe.
Look out for each other - Check in on family, friends and neighbours.. Keep your home secure - Lock doors and windows, keep valuables out of sight and use timer lights whilst you are away.. Be bright, be seen - Wear something bright or reflective and carry a torch when out after the dark.. Plan ahead - Keep your phone charged, plan your journey and where possible, stick to well-lit, busy routes. Stay alert and and report concerns - Trust your instincts and let us know if something doesn't feel right.
Vehicle & Road Safety:
Never leave a car running to defrost: Opportunistic thieves frequently target unattended vehicles left running and unlocked on frosty mornings. Check your vehicle: Ensure headlights, brake lights, and tyres are winter-ready before setting out in rain, fog, or frost. Slow down: Treat speed limits as upper limits, stay off phones while driving, and never drive under the influence.
Thank you The Dudley North Policing Team.
