SCAMMER BEWARE | We’ve received a number of reports from vigilant members of the public about somebody pretending to be from South Wales Police’s cyber crime unit. Please do not provide any personal details if you get contacted. They are claiming that the target’s name is included in a data breach and are then asking for information. This is not a South Wales Police caller – this is a scammer at work. Please don’t fall for it.
What to do if you receive a call
✅ Hang up immediately if you are suspicious. ✅ Wait at least five minutes before making any other calls, or use a different phone if possible. Some fraudsters remain connected to the line. ✅ Contact South Wales Police using a trusted number: • 101 (non-emergency) • 999 in an emergency ✅ Contact your bank immediately if you have shared financial information or made a payment. ✅ Report the incident to Report Fraud: • 0300 123 2040 | ||
